Nature
Colorless or slightly yellow liquid with an aromatic odor, relative density 1.0560, melting point -22.5℃, boiling point 208 to 210℃, refractive index 1.4175, flash point 110℃, insoluble in water, miscible with ethanol and ether, soluble in ammonia water and strong alkaline aqueous solutions.

Preparation method
The chloroacetic acid esterification and cyanation method involves esterifying chloroacetic acid with ethanol to produce ethyl chloroacetate. The refined ethyl chloroacetate is then cyanated with sodium cyanide to obtain crude ethyl cyanoacetate. Subsequently, it is filtered and subjected to atmospheric distillation and vacuum distillation to obtain high-quality ethyl cyanoacetate.
Chloroacetic acid cyanidation esterification method: chloroacetic acid is neutralized with soda ash to produce sodium chloroacetate, which then reacts with sodium cyanide to obtain sodium cyanoacetate. Subsequently, it is acidified with hydrochloric acid to obtain cyanoacetic acid, and finally esterified with ethanol to obtain ethyl cyanoacetate. After filtration, atmospheric distillation, and vacuum distillation, the finished product is obtained.
The cyanoacetic acid esterification method is obtained by esterifying cyanoacetic acid with ethanol.
Purpose
Organic synthetic raw materials. It is used in medicine as an intermediate for the synthesis of caffeine and vitamin B6, and also serves as a raw material and analytical reagent for oil-soluble color developing agents for color films and synthetic adhesives.

Safety
This product is highly toxic. Poisoning is mainly caused by ingestion or absorption through the skin. The oral LD50 for rats is 400 to 3200mg/kg. The transdermal LD50 of guinea pigs is greater than 5mL/kg. Its toxicity and protective methods can be found in cyanoacetic acid.
This product is packed in sealed aluminum drums, with a net weight of 200kg per drum. During storage and transportation, it is necessary to prevent moisture, sunlight and fire. Store and transport in accordance with the regulations for toxic hazardous materials.
