Nature
Colorless and transparent liquid with a pungent and irritating odor, flammable, relative density 1.1585. Melting point: -26℃, boiling point: 144.2℃, refractive index: 1.4215, flash point: 65℃. It is insoluble in water but soluble in ethanol and ether. It decomposes in hot water and alkaline solutions.

Preparation method
Chloroacetic acid and ethanol are directly esterified with sulfuric acid as the catalyst. The crude ester is neutralized by alkali washing, washed with water and distilled to obtain the finished product.

Purpose
It is used as a solvent and raw material for organic synthesis to produce the anti-tumor drug 5-fluorouracil, fragrances and toxic gases.

Safety
This product is highly toxic. It has an irritating effect on the eyes, skin and mucous membranes, and its vapor is anesthetic. The oral LD50 for rats is less than 50mg/kg. Direct contact and inhalation of this product should be strictly prevented. Operators should wear protective equipment.
Glass bottle packaging. Store in a cool and well-ventilated place. Transport and store in accordance with the regulations for toxic hazardous materials.
